From mass-produced graphics to collector's items.
Postcards and advertising graphics experienced their first heyday around 1900 and were produced as mass-produced goods, preferably for summer holiday destinations such as Oetz and the Ötztal glaciers from 1880 onwards.
The work and life of the artist F.A.C.M. Reisch allows us to trace this tourism and marketing trend from the designer's perspective: How did it come about that an aspiring young artist turned to the medium of commercial art?
Which motifs were popular, which places were fashionable at the time? The monograph by art historian Anna Pixner Pertoll not only tells the story of the artist F.A.C.M. Reisch, but also provides deep insights into the dynamics of tourism advertising at the turn of the century.
Anna Pixner Pertoll studied art history and ethnology in Innsbruck; since then she has been committed to the preservation of historic buildings; lectures, guided tours and publications on the topics of Merano villas and Merano parks
