South Tyrol offers a variety of landscapes for a small region. Each valley has its own distinctive
character, which can be observed in the surrounding nature as well as the people. While the trees and flowers in
Merano/Meran are already in bloom in March, the high mountain valleys such as the
Passeiertal, the
Schnalstal and the
Ultental valleys remain under a thick blanket of snow late into the spring. The ancient rural traditions of the villages convey a sense of community, while the Merano city center offers contemporary museums, upscale design shops and a wide range of dining options, from bistros to fine restaurants.
