Lana is the oldest and largest apple-producing area in South Tyrol. Facing south and protected to the north by the Alps, the area around Lana is particularly suitable for apple cultivation. Each year, the Lanafruit Cooperative alone harvests 55,000 tons of Golden Delicious, Gala, Pink Lady and many more apple varieties.
In Lana and Environs, the apple is celebrated at two annual festivals. The Blossom Festival (Blütenfesttage) takes place in early April, when the valley is covered in a sea of white and pink flowers. The second event is held during the autumn harvest. Guided tours and apple tastings are offered from early April to late October at the Lana
Museum of Fruit Cultivation, located at the historic Larchgut estate.
