important information
Entry

For entry into Italy, your dog needs:

  • A European pet passport
  • Microchip identification
  • A valid rabies vaccination, which must be at least 21 days old
  • Puppies can only enter from 15 weeks of age and only with a valid rabies vaccination
Local Pet Transport
In all public transport you can bring your dog if there is enough space available. For large and medium-sized dogs, a valid ticket such as "Single ticket" or "Mobilcard Junior" is required. Leash and muzzle are mandatory.
Guide dogs and small dogs travel for free and without a muzzle. You can carry your small dog either in your arms or in a box with maximum dimensions of 70x30x50 cm.

General Behavior Rules
  • Do not leave dogs alone: never leave your dog unattended to avoid conflicts and accidents.
  • Keep dogs on a leash: especially in unfamiliar or wildlife-rich areas, always keep your dog on a leash. Pay attention to signs indicating "Leash required". The leash should not exceed 1.5 meters in length, as you may face a fine otherwise.
  • Muzzle: wearing a muzzle is required in crowds, on public transport, or on cable cars to ensure everyone's safety.
  • Respect livestock: always keep a distance from livestock to respect their space and avoid disturbances.
  • Avoid stepping on meadows: refrain from walking on meadows and stick to designated paths to protect nature and agricultural areas.
  • Dispose of excrement: always pick up your dog's waste and dispose of it properly. Urban areas often have "Dogtoilets" with bag dispensers and trash cans. Otherwise, ensure you always carry bags to keep the environment clean.
  • Reduce noise: keep noise levels low to preserve the tranquility of nature and create a pleasant atmosphere for all visitors.
