Mix all the ingredients for the batter and stir well (liquid batter). Heat the oil in a high pan, pour the batter into a funnel and, starting in the middle, spiralise it into the hot oil. Fry the bunches in the oil until golden on both sides. Drain on a paper towel and place on a plate. Sprinkle with icing sugar and serve with cranberry jam or homemade applesauce.
