The Stilfserjoch/Passo Stelvio alpine pass is both: popular and notorious among racing cyclists. The Stilfserjoch at 2,757 m is the
highest pass road in Italy and attracts countless racing cyclists every year.
To get to the pass, it is best to start in Prad/Prato, which is about 37 km away from Naturno. Here you can take advantage of the bike shuttle service of the
Ötzi Bike Academy in Naturno. Prad is 910 m above sea level, so you have to do 25 km and 1,848 m difference in altitudo to reach the alpine pass!
The
48 bends, which climb with an average
gradient of 10%, offer a ride through a varied landscape with
breathtaking views! After a good half of the route, the racing cyclists have the imposing mountain massif with the glaciated Ortler in front of their eyes! With its
3.905 m the Ortler towers above all mountains and is therefore also called "
King Ortler".
