Taste South Tyrol: Apples, Speck & Regional Specialties

The mild climate around Naturns and Plaus creates ideal conditions for growing a wide variety of apples. In particular, Golden Delicious, Gala, and Braeburn apples ripen here perfectly, standing out for their taste and quality.

On the sunny vineyards around Naturns, winemakers cultivate high-quality white wine varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Silvaner, and Müller-Thurgau, as well as red wine varieties such as Vernatsch and Pinot Noir. Special aging techniques and maturation in wooden barrels give the wines their distinctive character.

At the same time, the region offers excellent conditions for Speck production: at Moser’s Speckworld, the Moser family has been producing mildly smoked Speck for generations, following a traditional family recipe. Many other Speck producers are also ready to welcome visitors!

Those who want to taste the culinary treasures of the region will find them not only at the Farmers’ Shop at the entrance to the Schnals Valley, but also at the numerous local markets, where fruit, wine, Speck, and other specialties are offered directly by the producers.

In Tisens-Prissian, the Bee World at Rainguthof Farm in Gfrill invites visitors to discover the vital role bees play in nature and agriculture. 🐝🍯 Along the themed trail, a series of stations offer insights into life inside the hive, the work of beekeepers, and the essential role of pollination in shaping both the landscape and local farming. The project was brought to life in 2022 by beekeepers Herta Kofler and Roland Troger with great passion and expertise – qualities that are also reflected in their own products.

The Knottnkino in Vöran is one of the most impressive nature experiences in South Tyrol. 🎬🏔
Located in the holiday region Hafling-Vöran-Meran 2000, on a striking red porphyry rock between Hafling and Vöran, the Rotstein Knott has been transformed into an open-air cinema. Handcrafted steel and wood seats invite visitors to slow down, sit back, and experience the landscape like a movie.
