There are numerous training circuits around Lana for racing cycle enthusiasts to try out. Fast stretches on the flat valley bottom alternate with steep and demanding ascents through mountain passes. The ride along the Falschauer and Etsch rivers is ideal for a warm-up.
One of the most popular ascents near Lana is over the Gampenpass mountain pass, crossing into neighboring Trentino before re-entering South Tyrol across the Mendelpass mountain pass. Cycling over the Jaufenpass mountain pass in Val Passiria/Passeiertal Valley and Timmelsjoch mountain pass at an altitude of over 2,500m a.s.l. is a must for the serious cyclist.
Last but not least, the legendary Giro d’Italia road race leads up to the Stilfserjoch mountain pass at an altitude of 2,757m a.s.l. offering stunning views of the summits of the Ortler and Königsspitze mountains.
