The region offers a wide range of possibilities for all those who like to move away from the slopes and enjoy the untouched nature to the fullest, because going ski touring in Merano 2000 means: experiencing the tranquillity of the mountains in the midst of powder snow and taking on a sporting challenge at the same time.

Ski touring in Merano 2000: the choice of routes
For ski tour lovers, there is a wide range of routes in Merano 2000, suitable for both beginners and experienced tourers. The designated routes offer a certain level of safety and are ideal for learning the basics of ski touring. They lead through a breathtaking winter landscape and offer magnificent views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
Those who feel more adventurous and are already experienced ski tourers can go on free routes. Here you can make your own tracks through the untouched snow and enjoy the silence of nature to the full. Please note, however, that these routes are reserved for experienced ski tourers, as they involve additional challenges.

Ski mountaineering is all the rage. If extensive tours at the weekends aren’t enough for you, you can indulge in your favourite sport two evenings a week. Tourers can ascend via the hiking trails on Thursday and Friday evenings during the week. Important: The descent must be made before 11 pm.

Safety is the number one priority when ski touring. Before you set off, you should always check the weather conditions. In the mountains, the weather can change quickly, so it is important to be well prepared. Make sure you have all the necessary equipment, including avalanche gear, an avalanche backpack and an avalanche transceiver. Check the current avalanche warnings and snow conditions in the region.

The cross-country trail of the mountain plateau of Meran 2000, Hafling/Avelengo and Vöran/Verano runs 1,640m a.s.l. on a circular course along the sunny plateau. The route starts below the valley station of the Falzeben Cable Car, and runs for about three km through the snowy winter forest.

The trail is not particularly difficult and suitable for both skating and classic skiing, perfect for beginners and families with children. All necessary equipment may be rented at the valley station of the Falzeben Cable Car, from the Sport Max and Sportservice Erwin Stricker ski rental stations.

The panoramic view stretches from the snow-covered mountain peaks of the Texelgruppe to the fabulous Dolomites and from the Ortler area to the Brenta Group in neighbouring Trentino. That’s also the reason why spacious panoramic terraces of the managed huts are a sought-after spot.

Merano 2000 toboggan run
The three-km-long Merano 2000 toboggan run starts at the top station of Merano 2000, near the Piffinger Köpfl. The winding and sometimes fast toboggan run leads through the wintry forest back to the valley station of the cable car in Falzeben. At the start, on the route and at the end of the toboggan run, there is the possibility of taking a break and stopping off in the surrounding huts.
A wintry ride on the Alpine Bob also offers variety and fun for the whole family. The 1.1 km long rail toboggan run starts at the mountain station of the Falzeben cable car. It takes just a few minutes to whizz down the valley. In some places, the toboggan run even hovers up to 12 m above the ground. After the descent, you automatically return to the starting point.

Leadner Alm toboggan run
Winter lovers will find the well-prepared toboggan run above the village of Vöran. Starting from the Leadner Alm, you walk up to the start at the Vöraner Alm with sledge in hand and red cheeks from excitement. This toboggan run, which is about six kilometres long, runs through the winter forest back to the Leadner Alm. The Leadner Alm has also prepared a toboggan run for the little ones.
