Route description

Ötschspitze Peak

From the Wanserhof farm parking lot in Walten/Valtina, head east along the wide road into the Wansertal valley (14). Further down, cross over the bridge to the right side of the valley, and after the last bend make a left turn up to the Wanser Alm mountain pasture (14). From there, follow the wide path further into the valley (in an easterly direction) that grows progressively narrower. After a few hairpin bends, bear left up the steeper slope and then turn right as it levels out and continue all the way to the Wanser Gruben mountain hut. From there the path heading east steepens again, crossing several hairpin bends before reaching the Wanser Joch ridge (14).   Initially flat, the route (north) from the Wanser Joch bears to the left before steepening as it crosses the ridge to the Ötschspitze summit. Though vertiginous, the final stretch to the Ötschspitze (14) is not too exposed.   From the Ötschspitze the way back is the same as from the Wanser Joch (14).

From the Wanser Joch proceed via the Wansertal valley back down to the parking lot at the Wanser Hof farm (14).
