Breathtaking route for experienced walkers (and those with a head for heights!). Hike along the Vellauer Felsenweg and Hans Friedensweg trails, a hike on narrow pathways along steep, rocky slopes with magnificent views of the Etschtal / Val d’Adige.
The starting point of this hiking route is the Hochmuth cable car valley station. Take the cable car up the mountain to the Hochmuth Inn. Trail no. 24 leads to Steinegg (inn), then continue left along the Oberer Felsenweg trail (Hans Frieden Weg) to the Leiter Alp (inn, 1522 m).
Next, trail no. 25 heads downhill as far as the Eicherhof just outside Vellau. Here turn left onto the Vellauer Felsenweg Trail, which is marked trail no. 22. The route, which is secured in places with steel cables, now leads along a narrow path between the cliff and the abyss back to the starting point of the hike (Hochmuth).
Along the Bolzano/Bozen-Meran/Merano expressway to the exit Meran South-Sinich/Sinigo - Dorf Tirol/Tirolo - along the main street and Haslachstraße street to the valley station of the Hochmuth cable car.
Car park at the valley station of the Hochmuth cable car (cost-free for one day using the cable car, garage against payment).
