The Diversity that is Schnalstal Valley

Centuries-old farmsteads set amongst blossoming farmers’ gardens are testimony to how proud their owners are of tradition and ancestry, from generation to generation. Many traditions are still practised today, for example, transhumance, where sheep are herded across the Alpine ridge by their shepherds. And, thanks to the discovery of Ötzi the Iceman, we have acquired new knowledge about what life was like during the Neolithic Age. The contrasts offered by the eternal ice, the quaint farmsteads with their dark brown wooden structures, ancient customs, wild nature, and, also hearty home cooking and traditional craftsmanship, have provided a veritable treasure trove for all types of film production - from commercials to Hollywood epics.
