Mountain Tour to the peak Schwarzkopf (2,805 m)

General description
Long but not technically demanding mountain tour with a wonderful view of the Spronser lakes.

Starting point: Pfelders car park

End point: Pfelders car park

Refreshment stop: Faltschnalalm
Route description

From the large Pfelders/Plan parking lot head southwest along the road to Lazins/Lazines leaving the village on the left-hand side. Then follow the steep path (6) into the forest before reaching picturesque location where the Faltschnalalm mountain pasture is situated. From there, follow the path south as it bears left while entering the wide Faltschnal valley (6). Though initially without any significant incline, the path becomes somewhat steeper as it continues southwest up to the Faltschnaljöchl ridge (6) near the valley head. After crossing the ridge on the left, continue further south to the Spronser Joch ridge, with a panoramic view of the first of a cluster of high mountain lakes.   After a short descent, leave the path and follow the narrow trail eastwards to the left for a short stretch, past the Schwarzsee lake, as far as the Grünjoch ridge.

This enables you to reach the slope to the right passing across the short but steep southern ridge leading to the scenic top of the Schwarzkopf.

From there, return to the Spronser Joch passing the Faltschnaljöchl (6) to the Lazinser Alm pasture (42A, 42). Then take the road through the picturesque Lazinsertal valley back to the Pfelders parking area (24, 8).
