Traces of history: fortresses and castles in Parcines

There are numerous historic homes and castles in Parcines/Partschins. Stachelburg Castle, a typical medieval castle situated in the center of the village, is well worth visiting. Once inhabited by the Counts of Parcines, it is now the manor house on Baron von Kripp’s organic wine farm. The wine cellar, which includes an old wine press and an inner courtyard, can be visited during the scheduled weekly tastings.

Built in 1348, the nearby Gaudententurm estate is just a few minutes walk northeast of Parcines and is a known landmark at the entrance to the village. The weekly tastings at the Gaudenz distillery on the estate are the ideal opportunity for a visit.

Dating back to the 12th Century, Spauregg Castle hosts Mediterranean trees such as a yew, a cedar and a 140 year-old redwood tree rising up 45m in its magnificent grounds.
