Route description
The tour starts in Dorf Tirol. The Hochmuth Cable Car takes you up to the Muthöfe farms. From the top station, a short but steep ascent leads to the Gasthaus Steinegg Inn on the Merano High Path. From here, follow trail marker no. 24 heading west. This section of the Merano High Path is called the Hans-Frieden-Weg.
In approximately 1.5 hours, the trail alternates between gentle ascents and descents, leading to the Leiteralm (1,522 m). The path continues through a forest to the Hochganghaus (1,839 m). Shortly before reaching the Hochganghaus mountain hut, a 55-meter-long suspension bridge crosses the Töllgraben. From the Hochganghaus, the Merano High Path takes on a more alpine character.
The trail, partially paved with larger stones, passes the "Hohe Wiege" viewpoint (1,809 m) and continues to the Tablander Alm (1,788 m). A slight descent brings you to the Zielbach river and the Nasereit mountain hut (1,523 m). The Zielbach river feeds the Partschins Waterfall, the largest waterfall in South Tyrol.
Follow trail no. 24 through shaded forests towards Giggelberg. After about an hour, the stage ends at the Giggelberg mountain inn (1,565 m), located above the top station of the Texelbahn Cable Car in Partschins.
