Together with its satellite villages of
Rablà/Rabland and
Tel/Töll,
Parcines/Partschins lies a short way away from Merano/Merano. The numerous
hiking routes in Parcines include paths along the old irrigation channels,
two cable car systems and the
Texelgruppe Nature Park nearby. At higher altitudes, hikers can readily access the
Merano High Mountain Trail and the Texelgruppe mountain range. With a height of 97 m, the
waterfall near Parcines is one of the most spectacular landmarks in the Alps.
Narrow streets, quaint houses and typical old farmsteads add a characteristic touch to this small village.
Peter Mitterhofer, one of its most famous sons,
invented the typewriter and has a museum named after him. In nearby Rablà, the
Train World Museum houses a scale model of South Tyrol complete with figurines and a working railway system. The
Royal & Imperial Bad Egart Museum, with various personal effects belonging to the Royal House of the Habsburgs, is also well worth visiting.
In the
numerous mountain restaurant and inns in the village and in the mountain, there are various tempting traditional South Tyrolean delicacies to try.
