Nalles/Nals is a rural community in the idyllic South Tyrolean holiday area of Merano and Environs. Lying at the bottom of a mountain ridge between Bolzano/Bozen, the regional capital and the spa town of Merano/Meran, Nalles is a convenient point of departure for exploring the South Tyrolean hiking areas. Known as the “Rose Village”, its immediate surroundings offer visitors some of the best cycling, mountain biking and hiking adventures.
The Mount Ifinger hiking area, Salten High Mountain Plateau and the child-friendly Merano 2000 hiking area are all within easy reach of Nalles. The surrounding area is easy to explore either alone or on an organised guided tour. The tranquil Ultental Valley and picturesque villages such as Sirmiano/Sirmian and Grissiano/Grissian are located in the vicinity of Nalles. Motor traffic on nearby Mount Vigiljoch has been declared out of bounds, to the advantage of cyclists and hikers.
Frequented by sportspersons and families alike, the well-marked hiking trails, cycling tracks and mountaineering areas through the pristine Texelgruppe Nature Park and into the legendary Dolomites are all within striking distance of Nalles.
The long-distance cycle track runs through Nalles along the Via Claudia Augusta, an ancient Roman trade route. Popular with cyclists, the Alpine-Mediterranean “Rose Village” is an ideal point of departure for exploring Merano and its surroundings along the South Tyrolean Wine Route.
