Archive and history of the town on the Passer river

As archival sources, the museums in Merano/Meran present aspects of local history from different perspectives. The history of the town is often presented interactively in relation to the present, such as at the Touriseum, the South Tyrol Museum of Tourism, in the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle.

There are numerous information centers and institutions such as the South Tyrol Museum of History in nearby Tyrol Castle, the Jewish Museum at the Merano Synagogue, the re-opened Palais Mamming City Museum, or the Prince’s Castle in Merano – along with many new museums and galleries, including Art Merano, the ES Gallery and the Women’s Museum.
