Thanks to its varied nature, the region around the spa town of Merano/Meran offers ideal conditions for hiking with children. There are several entertaining theme trails leading along the Merano valley bottom which are not too strenuous and stimulate the naturally playful instincts of children. If you want to climb higher, then one of the easily accessible mountain huts is an ideal destination. On their sun terraces, hosts serve traditional local dishes such as dumpling soup, schlutzer and apple strudel.
Many of Merano's footpaths and hiking trails are also accessible by pushchairs, including the Tappeinerweg trail and the Gilfpromenade trail. Numerous lifts also facilitate a family hike in the mountains of Merano. Thanks to the mild climate, hiking with children is possible almost all year round.
