Gambe di legno Consort was founded in 2001 by Paolo Zuccheri, Francesco Galligioni and Francesco Baroni. The aim of the project was to create an instrumental ensemble dedicated to the vast repertoire for the viola da gamba, ranging from solo pieces for viola to a ‘consort’ with several instruments. The ensemble is regularly invited to perform in concert series focussing on the performance and rediscovery of composers whose works are often unjustly neglected in libraries and archives. Gambe di legno is also active through collaborations with museums and cultural centres to create a strong link between the arts and make them accessible.
