The new Südtirol Guest Pass enables holders to
use public transport throughout South Tyrol free of charge and without restrictions: here are some
guidelines for its correct use.
After arriving at your place of accommodation you will be issued with a Südtirol Guest Pass, valid throughout the entire duration of your stay.
The card entitles you to
free public transport around South Tyrol on the following services:
- Regional trains in South Tyrol (Brenner/Brennero-Trento, Mals/Malles-Innichen/San Candido)
- Public buses (urban, suburban, citybus)
- Public cable cars (Burgstall/Postal-Vöran/Verano, Vilpian/Vilpiano-Mölten/Meltina, Bozen/Bolzano-Ritten/Renon, Bozen/Bolzano-Kohlern/Colle, Mühlbach/Rio Pusteria-Meransen/Maranza)
- Ritten/Renon railway, Mendel/Mendola funicular
- Swiss post bus Mals/Malles-Müstair
For the correct use of the Südtirol Guest Pass:
• Write your name and duration of stay on the back of the card.
• After activation the card remains valid for 7 days.
• For stays of over 7 days, you need to request a new card from your hotel, B&B, etc.
• The card must be validated at the start of each ride.
• Scan your card’s QR code on the appropriate validation machine on the bus or at railway stations.
• Please note that the Guest Pass card does not cover pets (dogs) or bicycles in transit!
• Cards are issued to visitors over 6 years old.

New validation devices: How to validate a Südtirol Guest Pass using the new machines
Public buses and railway stations in South Tyrol have ticket validation devices.
The Südtirol Guest Pass currently in circulation no longer has a black magnetic strip. Instead, it has a clearly visible QR code on the front of the card and is no longer inserted into a machine.
Depending on the machine, there are two ways to validate a card:
#1: hold the card with the QR code facing the scanner above the image of the QR code.
#2: hold the card with the QR code facing the scanner below the image of the QR code.
