Together for a sustainable Tschögglberg

Nature reveals its true beauty when we preserve it untouched. The Tschögglberg with its communities of Hafling, Vöran, Mölten and Jenesien is geographically, geologically and scenically unique. This uniqueness must be protected. For this reason, we - the three tourism associations on the Tschögglberg high plateau (Hafling-Vöran-Meran 2000, Mölten and Jenesien) - have decided to make this a central part of our strategy.

Certification as a sustainable destination according to the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) is an important step in this direction. These standards help us measure our progress and, above all, to continuously improve. Once we have reached this milestone, the future direction is clear: together for a good future on the Tschögglberg.

In order to make our endeavours measurable, the GSTC criteria are our guidelines and basic framework. The certification process ensures independence and credibility through external audits. The following four major and comprehensive aspects play a central role in the implementation:

- Sustainable management
- Socio-economic sustainability
- Cultural sustainability
- Ecological sustainability

The aim is to make the region measurably sustainable long term, taking into account the economic, ecological and social dimensions as well as the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations. By constantly realising our goals, the concept of sustainability becomes visible and tangible in each of our areas of activity.

South Tyrol's tourism also relies on its own sustainability label, which is based on the GSTC criteria. The label offers various levels of certification.

In the four municipalities on the Tschögglberg, we as tourism associations are networked with the municipalities, local businesses and residents in order to promote ecological projects, reduce CO₂ emissions and support local products. In this way, we protect the diverse nature and the flora and fauna that characterises our landscape. This landscape is both a living space for the inhabitants of the Tschögglberg high plateau and a recreational region for many guests. It is important to take all these factors into account and act responsibly.
