This easy, family-friendly hike takes you past orchards through the mixed woodland above Dorf Tirol and Kuens along the Kuenser Waalweg, or irrigation channel path, as far as the Longfall Inn.
The starting point of the hike is the Mühlanger bus stop. From here the trail heads around 50 m uphill to the junction with Plattergasse. Here, turn right onto Plattergasse and continue along this street to the end of the asphalt road. Follow the route towards Kuens/Ungericht. After crossing the bridge over the Spronser Bach follow the signs to the Longfall Inn. After a steep ascent to the Mutlechnerhof the path then continues for almost 15 minutes past orchards to the Kuenser Waal irrigation channel, which is over 600 years old. At this point the path remains relatively flat for a good hour alongside the irrigation channel until it reaches the catchment area in the Finelebach stream (1020 m). Next cross the bridge onto the Spronser forest track to the Tiroler Kreuz. From there take the tourist bus back to the centre of Dorf Tirol or go down the mountain on foot for a further 10 minutes to the Hochmuth cable car valley station car park.
Tip: If starting in the car park for the Hochmuth cable car, head 20 m uphill to the Pamerkreuz bus stop and then turn right onto the Apfelweg (Apple Trail). Follow the Apple Trail to the end of Plattergasse and then continue the route as described above.
Along the Bolzano/Bozen-Meran/Merano expressway to the exit Meran South-Sinich/Sinigo - Dorf Tirol/Tirolo - along the main street to the tourist information association (main street 31).
