September 13th to 15th, 2024, Val Senales Valley
In the Val Senales Valley,
Transhumance – the only one in the world that crosses a national border and a glacier at around 3,000 meters above sea level – is a centuries-old tradition that has been listed as UNESCO intangible cultural heritage since 2019.
To enhance this intangible heritage, Italian cultural manager
Agostino Riitano was commissioned to develop an artistic concept for the return of the sheep on September 14th in Vernagt/Vernago. Together with Emanuela Marmo, the idea of the
Nomad Fest emerged. This festival consists of a multi-week artist residency and a weekend of contemporary performances at selected locations in the valley.
For the
artist residency in September, the Italian-Austrian-Turkish
trio funduk with Basak Tuna, Maximilian Lehner, and Matteo Locci has been engaged. During their residency, the trio will focus on the theme of "waiting" and will present their work at the opening of the festival on Friday, September 13th, 2024, in Karthaus/Cerotsa.
